An original-looking 2nd Gen TTA, with the 4.9 Turbo intact.

Agreed.

I think NP. It's a shame they cut up the door panels to but huge speakers in. The 301 Turbo was such a crappy engine though and there's a reason my Trans Am has a 400 now.

I would agree. Sadly, I've actually seen a lot of those door panels cut up for huge speakers. Oh, trust me, I know the 301 Turbo was shit. I'm just surprised to find a T/A with the 301 Turbo intact, since most were either removed or blown to smithereens. Your 400 is WAY better.

And new panels are so crazy expensive (like $400 for a pair)! I was so lucky to find a nearly perfect set for $30.

Damn, really? I never knew they were that expensive! I'd never get the same luck as you lol.

Yeah, it was a stroke of luck! I finished buying like $500 in parts from a guy and I notice two door panels in the back of an old pickup truck. I asked if I could buy them, he said "ah, you don't want those ones, they've sat outside for weeks and have been rained on." I offered him $30 because the vinyl and carpet were in great shape and he accepted. I asked him to throw in all the trim pieces (door handles, door cups, bird emblems, etc. - about a $120 value) and he obliged. Luckily the cardboard backing was in pretty great shape and with some epoxy and popsicle sticks got into nearly perfect condition.

Sweet! Like I said, I'd never get that kind of luck. It sure looks damn good for $30!

How's the 'vette?

The 'Vette? She's doing well. Currently sleeping in winter storage, since she doesn't need to ever see winter. Sucks that its 120 miles away, though :(

I know that feeling. My T/A is in winter mode and though she's only like 10 miles from me I still can't drive her in the winter. The tuning isn't right for the cold and I know from previous years she acts more like a snowplow than a car.

Yeah, I gotcha. I would love for mine to be that close, just so I can check up on it. But, she's in a good place, so I can't complain. Lol, yeah, I'll bet that was a bit of a handful in the winter :D

How rare are these? I don't see them hardly at all. I do know the turbo 4.9s had a reputation for dying catastrophically.
I hate to be THAT GUY, but this car begs for a turbo LS swap...

They're pretty damn rare. The thing is, even if you find a TTA, most don't have their original 301 Turbo, since they were shit. Most were either removed or died quickly. That's why its so rare to find.
100% agreed. Would totally LS swap it. That would be kick ass.
